Ruby Oldham

Founder & Principal Solicitor

Ruby established Oldham Family Law in 2022 with a clear purpose — to provide high-quality, compassionate, and fiercely capable legal representation to individuals and families in Gippsland and beyond. What began as a vision has grown into a well-respected practice, trusted by clients across the region and beyond.

As the firm grows we continue to build deliberately and thoughtfully, strengthening our team with lawyers who not only excel in their fields but who genuinely understand the communities they serve.

Welcoming Ruby back to Gippsland is a powerful reflection of that commitment.

Ruby grew up in Gippsland before leaving home at just 16 years of age to study law at Bond University in Queensland. She went on to become one of the youngest people ever admitted to legal practice and has appeared regularly in court since the age of 21 — an achievement that speaks to both her capability and confidence as an advocate.

Ruby began her legal career clerking in property and family law on the Gold Coast and worked at what was then Queensland’s largest conveyancing firm prior to her admission. She later returned to Victoria, joining a general practice in South Gippsland where she built a strong foundation in family law and criminal law matters.

In 2016, Ruby commenced work at a suburban firm practising exclusively in family law and intervention order matters. Since that time, she has practised solely in family law and, from 2019, held the position of Senior Associate at a leading family law firm in Melbourne’s CBD. Her experience spans complex parenting disputes, intervention orders, and all stages of family law proceedings.

With years of invaluable experience behind her, Ruby made the decision to return home.

We are proud to be bringing senior-level family law expertise back to Gippsland, ensuring local clients can access the same standard of representation often only found in metropolitan practices.

Ruby’s depth of knowledge, strong courtroom presence, and genuine understanding of regional clients make her an exceptional advocate for families across Gippsland and Victoria. Her commitment to high-quality advocacy and her connection to the Gippsland community align perfectly with the values this firm was built on.

As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same: building a practice that delivers excellence, integrity, and meaningful support to our clients — right here at home, and across Victoria
